Privacy policy

How Stone Electrical collects, uses and protects your personal information.

Last updated: 24 September 2026

This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use this website or work with us, why we collect it, who we share it with and the rights you have over it.

Who we are

Stone Electrical is the trading name of Stone Electrical and Renewables Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16201305).

We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. If you have any questions about it, email andrew@stone-electrical.co.uk or call 07595 331 954.

The information we collect

When you fill in the quote form on this website we collect:

  • your name
  • your phone number and/or email address
  • the service you are interested in and anything you tell us in your message
  • the page of the website you sent the form from

If you call or email us, we keep the details you give us so that we can reply. If you go ahead with work, we also hold the information we need to carry it out: the address of the property, details of the work and the installation, test results and certificates, and invoices and payments.

To protect the quote form from spam we briefly record a scrambled (hashed) version of your internet address, which cannot be used to identify you and is discarded after an hour.

How we use it

  • To reply to your enquiry and give you a quote. This is in our legitimate interests and is a step you have asked us to take before entering into a contract.
  • To carry out and invoice the work. This is necessary to perform our contract with you.
  • To issue certificates and meet our legal duties, such as notifying building control of notifiable electrical work and keeping financial records for HMRC. This is necessary to comply with the law.
  • To handle warranties, aftercare and any complaints. This is in our legitimate interests.

We will not send you marketing messages unless you have asked us to, and we never sell your information.

Who we share it with

We only share your information where we need to, with:

  • NAPIT and your local authority building control, when electrical work has to be notified and certified under the Building Regulations
  • The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV), if you ask us to help you claim a government grant towards an EV charger
  • Andersen EV, when we order an Andersen charger for you, and through the configurator described below
  • The companies that provide our website hosting, email and accounting services, who process information on our behalf and only as we instruct
  • Our accountant and HMRC, for tax and financial records

We may also share information if the law requires it.

The Andersen EV configurator

Our Design your Andersen charger page includes a configurator provided by Andersen EV Plc. It runs inside our page but is operated by Andersen. When you send a configuration, the details you enter (your chosen specification and your contact details) are passed to Andersen EV and to us so that we can prepare your quote. Andersen EV handles that information under its own privacy and cookies policy, and the configurator may use its own cookies.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that do not lead to work are deleted from our website after 12 months.
  • Customer and job records, invoices and payments are kept for six years after the end of the financial year they relate to, as required for tax purposes.
  • Electrical certificates and test records are kept for as long as they may be needed for safety, warranty or legal reasons.

Cookies

This website does not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and our fonts are hosted on our own server rather than loaded from a third party. The only cookies this website sets itself are for staff logging in to manage it. The Andersen EV configurator page may set cookies of its own, as explained above.

Keeping your information safe

We use secure, password-protected systems and only share information with people and organisations who need it. Some of our service providers may store information outside the UK; where they do, we make sure it is protected by appropriate safeguards required by UK data protection law.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
  • ask us to delete your information, where we no longer have a reason to keep it
  • ask us to limit how we use your information, or object to us using it
  • ask us to send your information to you or another organisation in a common format

To use any of these rights, email andrew@stone-electrical.co.uk or call 07595 331 954. There is no charge, and we will reply within one month.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
